RFID
The electronic identification of animals is based on RF/ID (Radio Frequency / IDentification) technology. At RFID the information (the unique ID Code) is transferred wireless with Radio frequencies between a transponder (ear tag, bolus or injectible) and a reader. The wireless data transfer is faster and more reliable than other means of identification as visual ear tags, barcodes, brands or tattoos. This is especially the case under the harsh environmental conditions of the livestock business.
